The Ethereum Foundation has assembled a team of 47 top experts to build a new line of defense for privacy protection.

Recently, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) announced the formation of a "Privacy Cluster" team composed of 47 top experts, aiming to systematically promote the development roadmap of Ethereum privacy technology.

This initiative marks the formal prioritization of privacy protection within the Ethereum ecosystem, which will directly drive the implementation of privacy solutions in key areas such as transaction verification and identity management.

The team is led by Igor Barinov, the founder of Blockscout and Gnosis Chain, and is a strategic upgrade based on the original "Privacy and Scalability Exploration" team.

In the past few years, the team has successfully incubated over 50 open-source privacy projects, including well-known tools like Semaphore and MACI, laying a solid technical foundation for this large-scale initiative.

At the practical implementation level, the expert team will focus on several key areas, including developing transaction verification technology that supports privacy, building an identity management system with selective disclosure, optimizing user experience to lower barriers to entry, and establishing institutional privacy solutions that comply with regulatory requirements.

Among them, a privacy browser wallet SDK named "Kohaku" provides encryption technology for privacy protection in daily use.

The advancement of this plan comes at a time when the global privacy environment is becoming increasingly severe. The "chat control" legislation being brewed by the EU could threaten the security of encrypted communications, while the recent Discord data breach incident has exposed the systemic risks of centralized storage.

At the same time, the privacy protection that Vitalik Buterin has consistently emphasized is also a fundamental right in the digital age.

By bringing together top industry talent, the Ethereum Foundation is taking practical actions to address these challenges. This initiative is not only about technological innovation but also aims to establish a reliable privacy infrastructure for the entire Web3 industry, with its outcomes directly influencing the future direction of digital privacy protection.

In summary, against the backdrop of unprecedented challenges to digital privacy, the advancement of the Ethereum Foundation's privacy protection plan not only demonstrates its strong commitment to building a trustworthy network environment but also lays a solid privacy foundation for the Web3 ecosystem, making its progress worthy of continuous attention from industry stakeholders.
